Hello. 39 Toes was formed early in the year of 2001 consisting of Jeff Matheson (guitar, piano, vocals), Kim Matheson (fiddle, mandolin), Jason Myers (guitar, penny whistle, vocals), and Bill Hall (accordian, bohdran). The group first performed at a local coffee house and quickly became noted for their warm stage presence and consistent live sound. For the next two years, the Toes soon found themselves in demand for private parties, club appearances and corporate gigs throughout New Brunswick.
By 2003, the band recorded and released their first (and only) CD entitled 'Right!', an exciting selection of traditional favourites as well as a tasteful choice of perky instrumentals. The disc helped get the band selected as New Brunswick showcasers at the 2004 East Coast Music Awards (ECMA's) in Newfoundland. Being spotlighted at the ECMA's brought on a stream of higher profile appearances including Saint John's Festival By The Sea, the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta in Sussex, the Miramichi Irish Festival, as well Saint John's Salty Jam Festival.
Although the band members have always remained the best of friends, the Toes disbanded in the fall of 2006 to make way for new daytime careers. This Web site commemorates the five+ years that the band was actively together. However, don't be surprised if you stumble across a few Toes jamming at a local house party now and again...

Ever since the band began calling themselve's 39 Toes, questions about where the name came from hurled about at concerts, interviews and even newspaper articles. The mystery of the 'missing digit' was kept secret by tight-lipped bandmates who riddled and joked their way around the subject throughtout the life of the band. Shortly after the Toes name was launched a group pact was made to refrain from public appearances in bare feet or open-toed sandles. In addition, you'd be very hard pressed to find a photograph of the band where any of their left feet are exposed.
But, in spite the band's best efforts, some dilligent fans have since figured it out. They say the answer can be found "in the far corner of Sessions Café in Rothesay, NB. If you look up at the ceiling tiles, the corner tile bears the Toes' secret." But, off course, you'd have to go there and see for yourself...'cause the former band members still won't give you a straight answer!
